Grieving Part Two
I find myself on an emotional roller coaster. Knowing my emotions are real but not always true brings no comfort. I turn to God and His Word. Here are a few more truths He showed me.
1) We grieve with hope. What does that mean? My emotions scream, “That is just Christianese!” This is why we grieve with hope. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ…Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 1:20-22 NIV). We are His and there is more to come!
2) Take God at His word. If you need to throw your care on Him do it (1 Peter 5:7). We see in Hebrews 4:15 (CSB) that God feels with us, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,…” Thank you God for feeling with us!
3) Jesus not only feels with us, but He is praying for us (Romans 8:34). Honestly, I don’t know what to pray right now. Jesus is talking to God the Father about us. I find comfort in that.
4) Write down what God speaks during this time. How has He comforted you? How has He provided? What do you see/understand about Him that you missed before? You will need it later. Someone else may need it later. God doesn’t waste pain (or anything else for that matter).
How has God comforted you while grieving? What part of His Word did He use?
