Why Brave?

I was frustrated and my kids were bored. That is the realization I came to one day when trying to lead my kids.  If you asked me, “what are you doing to disciple your boys?” I would have two answers; 1.) I take them to church, and 2.) I talk about God when they are in trouble.

That’s when Brave came along. Brave exists to help dads have better conversations about God with their kids.

About Me

My name is Will Blackman, the founder of Brave. I have a beautiful wife Laura, and four boys: Thomas, Reid, Adam and Beau. We have a tiny dog named Trax and when you combine it all, there is never a dull moment in the Blackman house. Therefore, it is the perfect Brave laboratory.

I have a B.S. in Religion from University of the Cumberlands and a M.A.B.S. from Dallas Seminary. I have worked on several different church staffs as a Young Adults Pastor and Lifegroup Pastor.

Here are my core Beliefs:

I believe in the scripture of the Old and New Testaments as being inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings and to be the final authority in life.
Mark 12:29; Matthew 28:18-19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

I believe that God eternally exist as 3 persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and each person is fully God and there is one God.
1 Peter 1:1-2; John 14

I believe that man was originally created in the image of God and that he fell through sin, and as a consequence of sin lost his life. I also believe that this total depravity of human nature has been transmitted to the entire human race and that every human being is born at enmity with God.
Romans 3:23, 5:6-12, 6:23; Genesis 3

I believe that salvation is a gift from God by grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. I believe in the physical death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore, I believe Jesus Christ is the only sufficient sacrifice for sin and the only true mediator for mankind. I believe that all Christ followers once saved are kept secure in Christ forever.
1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Romans 5:12-21; Matthew 27, 28 Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:20-21; Ephesians 1:13-14, 2:8-9

I believe Heaven and Hell are real places
John 14:1-6; Revelation 7:13-17; 20:11-15; 21:22-27; 2 Corinthians 5:1-10; Luke 16:19-31
